AUGUSTA – W. Joan Bartlett, 80, died on Sunday, June 27, 2021, at MaineGeneral Medical Center. Joan was born in Elkins, W.Va. on Dec. 6, 1940, a daughter of the late George and JoAnn (Beal) Rankin.
As a child, she lived in West Virginia, Maryland, Washington, D.C., Pennsylvania, Maine and other parts of the country as her stepfather travelled for the Mobil Oil Corporation. She had been a Maine resident since the late ’40s.
At her request, there will be no public visiting hours. A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 12 at 11 a.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery, 9 Waites Landing Road, Falmouth. ....

WATERVILLE City officials plan to evaluate Waterville’s housing stock by forming a committee comprising two city councilors and up to six other residents who are involved in housing matters.
“We know that we have a housing crisis,” Mayor Jay Coelho said Thursday. “We don’t have enough.”
If the city wants more people to move to the area, officials must determine what the housing situation looks like, what mix of housing the city needs single-family homes, rental units and so forth and then see what can be done to effect change, according to Coelho.
“There’s a ton of housing options,” he said. “What do we want Waterville to look like in the future? I think that’s part of what this group will explore.” ....

WATERVILLE The Planning Board is scheduled to consider final approval Monday night of previously approved plans to redevelop the former Seton Hospital at 30 Chase Ave. into apartments and commercial space.
The previously approved plans by Waterville Redevelopment Company III LLC expired, so the company must get final approval from the board to proceed.
The Zoom meeting is set to begin at 7 p.m. Those wanting the link to the meeting must contact the city’s planning department before 5 p.m. Monday. ....

At Maine Medical Center in Portland, the Reiche family welcomed Winnie, a girl, who was born at 1:58 a.m. Friday. The first child of Sarah and George Reiche of Portland, she weighed 6 pounds, 1 ounce, and measured 19 1/4 inches in length.
Sarah Reiche, who is a nurse in Maine Med’s neonatal intensive care unit, said the family is “so happy to welcome our new baby girl into 2021.”

AUGUSTA A Sidney couple welcomed Augusta’s first baby less than an hour into the new year Friday.
Rowan Tillson was born at 12:54 a.m. to parents Vanessa, 26, and Josh Tillson, 29, at MaineGeneral Medical Center. Rowan is the Tillsons’ third child, joining daughter Paisley, 5, and Jesse, their 17-month-old son who died of an asthma attack in 2019. ....
