Thousands of Ontarians are getting their COVID-19 vaccines not at pharmacies or doctors’ offices, but at a clinic pulled together by a construction company through a public-private partnership.
The clinic run by Mississauga-based EllisDon has seen more than 15,000 people book appointments, scheduled between May 19 and 26.

TORONTO – The Ontario government is introducing new measures to help tradespeople get their certification from one reliable, streamlined destination through a new Crown agency, Skilled Trades Ontario, that would replace the Ontario College of Trades (OCOT).
Today, Monte McNaughton, Minister of Labour, Training and Skills Development, introduced the Building Opportunities in the Skilled TradesAct, legislation designed to make the province’s skilled trades and apprenticeship system more efficient, accessible and easier to navigate.
Under the proposed legislation, Skilled Trades Ontario would become the province’s industry-informed training authority to lead the promotion, research and development of the latest apprenticeship training and curriculum standards. Major Toronto mass transit project will now test all workers for coronavirus

The consortium responsible for the construction of the Eglinton Crosstown has introduced a “mandatory” COVID-19 testing program for its workers in the wake of dozens of positive tests last month.
Crosslinx Transit Solutions says it has joined a rapid testing pilot program that has been launched by the Ministry of Labour.
It says that testing will take place on a rotating schedule at all work sites associated with the project, beginning this week with workers assigned to Leaside, Golden Mile and the Eglinton Maintenance Storage Facility.
The consortium says that registered nurses will administer the Panbio antigen test twice weekly to asymptomatic workers and all individuals who test positive will then be required to arrange for a PCR test. ....
