Anandabazar 16 Die in Bihar’s Champaran, Cops says it’s Hooch Tragedy dgtl Hooch Tragedy: ‘বিষ মদ’ খেয়ে বিহারে মৃত ১৬, মদই খায়নি বলছে পরিবার সংবাদ সংস্থা পটনা ১৭ জুলাই ২০২১ ১০:৫২ প্রতীকী চিত্র গত দু’-তিন দিনে বিহারের পশ্চিম চম্পারণে বিষ মদ খেয়ে অন্তত ১৬ জনের মৃত্যু হয়েছে বলে জানিয়েছে পুলিশ। ইতিমধ্যেই এই ঘটনায় পাঁচ জনকে আটক করেছে পুলিশ। ঘটনার তদন্ত শুরু হয়েছে। যদিও মৃতদের মধ্যে আট জনের পরিবার দাবি করেছে, মদই খাননি মৃতরা। চম্পারণের জেলাশাসক কুন্দন কুমার বলেন, ‘‘আমরা খবর পেয়েছি গত দু’-তিন দিনে প্রায় আট জন রহস্যজনক ভাবে মারা গিয়েছেন। যদিও তাঁদের পরিবার ও গ্রামবাসীরা মদ খাওয়ার কথা অস্বীকার করেছেন। এই ঘটনায় এফআইআর দায়ের হয়েছে। ঘটনার তদন্ত শুরু হয়েছে। যদিও মৃতদের শেষকৃত্য হয়ে যাওয়ায় এই মুহূর্তে মৃত্যুর কারণ বোঝা যাচ্ছে না। আমরা মেডিক্যাল দল নিয়োগ করেছি। আর কারও শরীরে কোনও উপসর্গ দেখা যাচ্ছে কি না সে দিকে নজর রাখা হচ্ছে।’’ চম্পারণের ডেপুটি ইনস্পেক্টর জেনারেল লালন মোহন প্রসাদ বলেন, ‘‘আমরা প্রায় ৪০ জনের বয়ান রেকর্ড করেছি। তাঁদের মধ্যে মৃতদের পরিবারের লোকও রয়েছেন। মদ খাওয়ার কথা অস্বীকার করেছেন সবাই। যদিও হাসপাতালে চিকিৎসাধীন এক ব্যক্তি জানিয়েছেন, তিনি মদ খেয়েছিলেন।’’ Advertisement আরও পড়ুন আরও পড়ুন ২০১৬ সালের এপ্রিল মাস থেকে বিহারে মদ বিক্রি বন্ধ। তার পরেও এই ধরনের ঘটনা সামনে আসায় দু’জন গ্রাম চৌকিদারকে বরখাস্ত করেছে প্রশাসন। এই ঘটনায় সুর ছড়িয়েছে বিরোধী দল আরজেডি। নীতীশ কুমার সরকারের সমালোচনা করেছেন আরজেডি প্রধান তথা বিহারের প্রাক্তন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী লালু প্রসাদ যাদব। Advertisement

Even as local reporters went on a wild goose hunt in response to the mounting word of mouth reports, TOI was able to gather the names of sixteen suspected casualties by the time of filing this report late on Thursday night. Champaran Range DIG Lallan Mohan Prasad told TOI that he too had received information that many people had succumbed after consuming hooch at Deorwa Deoraj village under Lauriya police station. "We are verifying the report," he guardedly said.
