About Mower County Master Gardeners The Mower County Master Gardeners have maintained the Junior Garden at the Mower County Fairgrounds for the past fourteen years.  Besides growing vegetables, the 80 X 80 enclosed garden has apple trees, an espalier plum tree, rhubarb, a monarch garden, and a pollinator garden.  The lawn is planted to a sustainable fescue mix which requires less mowing.  Produce harvested in 2020 totaled 2,000 pounds and was donated to the Salvation Army.   2021 summer we hope to resume classes for STEM students.   The students will follow the Plants Alive curriculum developed by the University of Minnesota.  Each session will include a science lesson, a hands-on lesson in the garden, and a nutrition lesson.  Produce will be harvested by the students and taken home by them.  The final session will be entering produce and flowers at the Mower County Fair.
