West Virginia University announces Foundation Scholars for fall semester

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. West Virginia University on Monday announced it has selected five school students for its West Virginia University Foundation Scholars program.
The Foundation Scholarship is open for West Virginia students who have a minimum GPA of 3.8 and a minimum composite score of 31 on the ACT or an equivalent SAT score. When paired with the state’s PROMISE Scholarship, the Foundation Scholarship’s value is more than $90,000 over four years.
“I am energized each spring as I meet our latest cohort of Foundation Scholars,” institution President Gordon Gee said. “They inspire me with their dreams. And at West Virginia University, we will give them the tools to achieve their aspirations to build successful careers and make breakthroughs that will extend beyond the borders of our state to the rest of the world.” ....

Sarah Ann (Dunn) Pasman, 84, of Martinsburg, WV passed away peacefully April 20, 2021 under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle at their Inpatient Facility. She was born June 21, 1936 in Mingo Flats, WV and was the daughter of the late John Henry Queen and Eliza Jane Hall Queen.
Sarah graduated in 1954 from Morgantown High School. She continued her education at West Virginia University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science and a then a Master’s degree in education. A lifelong educator, she began her teaching career at Petersburg High School, but she spent most of her career as a reading specialist at North Middle School in Martinsburg. ....
