The article was pretty pessimistic about Maruti and Tata s future prospects, while writing that Hyundai and Daewoo were set to swallow the Indian market.
Five years later the article was proved terribly wrong, when Maruti launched the Swift under his leadership. There has been no turning back for the company ever since. ....

The U.S. State Department said on Monday the Moldovan parliament s vote to sack the head of the constitutional court was a blatant attack on Moldovaâs democratic norms and its constitutional order.
Friday s vote came after the tribunal backed a call for a snap election by President Maia Sandu, who came to office in November on a pro-European Union ticket and is likely to complicate a standoff between the president and a parliament still dominated by lawmakers aligned with her pro-Russian predecessor.
In a statement, the State Department also said it was of particular concern that the parliament was targeting the constitutional court which only recently asserted its independence after years of state capture. ....

Moldovan lawmakers voted on Wednesday to introduce a state of emergency for 60 days to fight the coronavirus pandemic, a move which allies of pro-Western President Maia Sandu cast as a ploy to delay a snap election.
The eastern European country of 3.5 million, where the West and Russia vie for influence, has been in political limbo since Sandu defeated the pro-Moscow incumbent Igor Dodon in the presidential election last November.
Acting Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi said a state of emergency was necessary to contain the rapid spread of the virus, ease the strain on hospitals and give the government more powers to introduce lockdown measures that were being resisted. ....

OLYMPIA – The Washington State Senate voted to confirm Umair A. Shah, MD, MPH as Secretary of Health on Friday, April 23. The vote follows Secretary Shah’s testimony before the Senate Committee on Health & Long Term Care in a confirmation hearing on March 10, and the committee’s subsequent recommendation of his confirmation to the full Senate.
Gov. Inslee appointed Secretary Shah to lead the Department of Health (DOH) in December 2020. Since then, Secretary Shah has been responsible for the state’s COVID-19 response and vaccination efforts. Under his leadership, over 40% of the state’s population has received at least one dose of vaccine and two million people have been fully vaccinated. As of this week, providers in the state have given five million doses of vaccine, and more than 250,000 dose ....
