Image: PA NON-URGENT A&E visits are costing Cheshire s NHS hospitals hundreds of thousands of pounds. One in seven emergency visits at Macclesfield Hospital were made by patients with no obvious medical condition in 2019-20 – a total of 7,160 admissions – according to NHS Digital data. Such visits cost East Cheshire NHS Trust a staggering £1.7 million last year, the figures show. Meanwhile, Leighton Hospital saw 3,290 admissions for patients with no obvious medical condition in 2019-20, costing Mid Cheshire Hospitals £363,900. And the Countess of Chester saw 2,540 such admissions at a cost of £408,800. ....
Leighton Hospital. LEIGHTON Hospital’s trust has reported its 400th patient death from coronavirus. Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust reported nine new deaths from Covid-19 in figures released by NHS England today, January 26. Three of those patients died yesterday while six died on Sunday, January 24. East Cheshire NHS Trust, which runs Macclesfield Hospital, has also reported seven new deaths from coronavirus today – taking the trust’s total number of Covid deaths to 250. All seven patients died last week – with three deaths last Thursday, two last Wednesday, one last Tuesday and one last Monday. No new deaths from coronavirus were reported by the Countess of Chester NHS Trust today, where the total stands at 466 since the pandemic began. ....
Dr Gilby is the CEO of the Countess of Chester NHS Trust THE NHS Trust which runs Leighton Hospital is currently treating more patients for Covid-19 than any other point during the pandemic. Data released by Public Health England today (January 22) shows that the Mid Cheshire NHS Trust had 209 Covid-19 patients, on Tuesday (January 19). That’s an increase of six from the previous week. It’s a similar picture at The Countess of Chester hospital, with its 287 patients a record, and comes in the week Trust boss Dr Susan Gilby pleaded with residents to follow government lockdown rules. Dr Gilby said: “Over 270 patients are requiring care in beds in our hospital as a result of Covid-19 disease. ....
