Track electrification has received a major impetus during the current financial year despite the economic downturn and financial constraints consequent to the pandemic.
The railway authorities have completed electrification of 162 route km of track in the State spread across the three railway divisions.
The Commissioner for Rail Safety, Abhai Kumar Rai, completed the mandatory inspection of a 50.56 km stretch between Thalaku and Chitradurga in the Mysuru Railway Division on Tuesday. The stretch is part of the ongoing electrification project between Rayadurga and Chikjajur.

Track electrification has received a major impetus during the current financial year despite the hiccups as a consequent to the pandemic.
The railway authorities have completed electrification of 162 route km of track in the State spread across the three railway divisions and it is scheduled for track inspection by the Commissioner for Rail Safety. While 50 km stretch has been electrified in Mysuru division, 47 km has been covered in Bengaluru, and 65 km in Hubballi division. ....

In the direction of ensuring uninterrupted movement of road traffic and de-congesting busy approach roads in Shivamogga and Bhadravati, three-level crossing gates - two in Shivamogga and one in Bhadravati - under the territorial jurisdiction of Mysuru division are being eliminated through construction of Road Over Bridges (ROBs) for which foundation stone is being laid on Monday by Chief Mnister B.S. Yediyurappa, and Minister for Railways and Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal (through a video link).
A press release from the Mysuru railway division here on Saturday said the elimination of these level crossings will significantly enhance operational safety, resulting in greater efficiency and higher productivity. Budget: Emphasis on ongoing rail works in Mysuru division

But nominal funds earmarked for Mysuru-Kushanlagar project
The fund allocation for the Mysuru Railway Division in the Union Budget 2021-22 indicates that the focus is on critical ongoing projects while nominal amounts have been earmarked for new railway lines or the sanctioned works which are yet to commence.
The Shivamogga-Shikaripur-Ranebennur line gets a whopping ₹100 crore while the track doubling work on the Arsikere-Tumakuru section – which is partially in the Mysuru Railway Division - has received ₹46.75 crore. The latter is critical and part of the track doubling work connecting Hubballi and Bengaluru and has been described as “critical project’’.
But the Mysuru (Belagola) to Kushalnagar new line project spanning 87 km gets a nominal allocation though the local MP Pratap Simha is batting for it. ....
