Position Summary
This position consists of assignments in support of the Community Development Department using job-related knowledge and self-initiative. Assignments are performed under the direction of the Department Director or other designated Township official. Primary responsibilities include administration of the Township Zoning Ordinance and support to the Zoning Hearing Board, plan and permit reviews, report writing, site inspections to ensure compliance with the Township Zoning Ordinance and other applicable ordinances. Additionally, provide support to Planning Commission that will include review of subdivision and land development plans in conjunction with municipal engineer, attendance, and participation in developer/staff meetings to discuss on-going and pending plan applications. An application by Schottenstein Realty Company for the purpose of redeveloping an existing motel (the George Washington Inn and Conference Center) into a 125-unit rental apartment building has been approved by the York County Planning Commission.
According to a York County Planning Commission Staff Report, Schottenstein has a contract to purchase the property and intends to redevelop it for non-transient residential occupancy.
Currently the property is a 250-room motel and conference center.
The property is designated Economic Opportunity in the Comprehensive Plan, intended to guide a mix of office, light industrial, commercial, and tourist related uses to certain areas of the county that have or are planned to have the access and infrastructure necessary to support both capital and labor intensive uses. ....
