Hyderabad, Jan 8 : Tension prevailed at LB Nagar in Hyderabad on Friday as police arrested gau rakshaks to foil their plans to stage road blockade on Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway demanding protection of cows.
Dozens of protesters were taken into custody. Police personnel were seen physically lifting the protesters and shifting them to police vehicles and whisking them away.
Holding saffron flags and raising slogans, protesters squatted on road. The protest led to traffic jam at busy LB Nagar cross roads. ....

HYDERABAD: BJP MLA T Raja Singh and cow protection supporters were briefly detained by police on Friday when they tried to block a road here over their demand that it be declared a national animal.
They tried to gather at LB Nagar here for the protest when they were detained, police said, adding all of them were released later. ....

Cow is sacred for Hindus, but the same is being slaughtered in this land. Until it is not declared as National Animal, protecting it will not be possible, several speakers gathered at the occasion were quoted as saying by the media on Monday.
