Tonight’s meeting will cover a varied amount of topics, beginning with the authorization of a five-year professional agreement between the Town of Yucca Valley and C&L Services Inc. for a radio communication system. Following, the Council will approve an amendment to accommodate additional work on the Yucca Trail Safety Improvement Project. Shortly after, there will be an approval of a memorandum of understanding between the Town of Yucca Valley and San Bernardino County Department of Public Health that will establish the use of a local site or facility in the case of a public health emergency. ROAD CONSTRUCTION ONGOING IN YUCCA VALLEY, PROGRESS MEETING MONDAY

Construction began this week on two major road projects in Yucca Valley: the Palomar Avenue Widening Project and the Yucca Trail Safety Improvement Project. Both projects are expected to be completed in January. The town will hold progress meetings for residents. The Palomar project consists of widening Palomar Trail at the intersection with Yucca Trail. Traffic signals will also be replaced, and new striping painted on the pavement.
The Yucca Trail Safety Improvement Project consists of widening Yucca Trail from Warren Vista Avenue to the Palomar Avenue intersection. The project will add 8-foot shoulders, 12-foot travel lanes, and a 12-foot center median with left turn pockets at intersections. ....

Students at local schools will not be going back to classrooms anytime soon. The Morongo Unified School District Board of Education reported in open session today, that Morongo Unified School District will remain on the Distance Learning/ Independent Study model for the remainder of the 2020/2021 school year concluding in June 2021. Due to ever-changing state restrictions, the district will to remain on its current model for the safety and well being of its students, teachers and staff. The District said they recognize this will pose continued challenges for many families. A district press release said, “The board and districts decision is based on local data related to safety, and the second surge of the coronavirus that is currently impacting our county, our cities, and our school district significantly.” ....
