Yuba-Sutter businesses meet COVID-19 challenges
Business was going well in 2019 for Ragen Whittlesey, who had just moved to Marysville with her husband and opened a small hair and skin studio. So much so that she decided to expand the business into a larger location – what became The Parlor, a hair, skin and lash studio on D Street in Marysville.
“Heading into 2020, I had hoped to gain even more new clients, add stylists, estheticians and lash artists to my team and become a legitimate business that would bring people to D Street,” Whittlesey said. “To boot, I was really looking forward to participating in all of the festivals and parades that take place in Historic Marysville.” ....

Good riddance 2020, hello to a new year: Part 2

2020: . was a year that started out just like any other year for our district.  The pandemic hit and in March 2020, our district, staff and families had to abruptly shift to distance learning.  This has been a difficult year for all… we have had to learn to be flexible and adaptable.  Our staff has worked very hard to meet the needs of our students and families and I am very proud of them.
2021: My hope for 2021 is a return to “normal” for our students, staff, and families.  I want to see students and staff in classrooms as soon as is safely possible. I want our students to have prom, graduation, athletic competitions, and extra-curricular activities very soon.  I am hopeful that our community will work together to re-flatten the COVID curve which will help reopen our schools. ....

March 1:  Area residents refreshed their awareness of the legacy of Camp Beale, when a grenade was found in the backyard of a Wheatland residence. The base has a history with explosives, it was reported, from when the facility was the site of the old Camp Beale, 1942 to 1947. During WWII, the camp comprised 86,000 acres 10 miles east of Marysville – it was a training facility for the U.S. Army, including bombing and gunnery range. ....
