COVID-19: Northern governors agree to take first doses of vaccine

The Northern governors have agreed to openly take the first doses of COVID-19 vaccine.
Simon Lalong, Chairman of Northern Governors disclosed that the move was aimed at dousing fear in the region.
Lalong, who is the Governor of Plateau State, disclosed this yesterday at a teleconference organised by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation, SABMF.
Represented by Danladi Atu, Secretary to the Plateau State Government, the governor said he and his colleagues have agreed to be in front line to take the first doses.
The Governor said the action would encourage the people to take the vaccine. ....

YPF to South-West Govs: Fix insecurity with job creation, entrepreneurship

A pan-Yoruba socio-cultural group, Yoruba Professionals Foundation, YPF, on Friday, warned South-West governors that unless they prioritise jobs creation through knowledge-based entrepreneurship, and agriculture, insecurity will continue to boom in the region.
YPF, a group of Yoruba professionals, noted that poverty, hunger and starvation, mostly occasioned by a high rate of youth unemployment, are responsible for the increased commercial criminality and kidnapping in the South-West.
In a statement jointly by its Convener/President and Director of Research and Strategy, Messrs Maxwell Adeleye and Olawale Kadri, respectively, YPF warned the governors in the region on the danger of not prioritising youth unemployment. ....

Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has declared Ogun state will be his next destination to flush out criminal herdsmen.
In the now-viral video, Igboho stated that he has heard about the criminal activities of herdsmen in the state.
The Nation had reported how military men escorted herdsmen to flog residents in some villages in Ogun state for rejecting herders in their midst.
