Guidelines on administration of pre-tertiary schools out soon — Attorney-General

The Attorney-General (A-G) and Minister of Justice, Mr Godfred Yeboah Dame, has said the government will soon come up with guidelines to regulate the administration of mission schools with respect to religious beliefs and practices of other faith groups.
He said it formed part of measures to resolve the seeming religious intolerance in some senior high schools (SHS) in the country.
According to him, the rules would be made by the Ghana Education Service (GES), per the power vested in it under the Pre-tertiary Education Act, which allows it to make rules for all SHSs in the country.
Mr Dame also said the guidelines would be anchored on respect for and tolerance of religious beliefs, as well as ensure justice, equality and non-discrimination, in line with the country’s secular and democratic tenets, as enshrined in the 1992 Constitution. ....

An Accra High Court has rescinded a bench warrant it issued for the arrest of Oheneba Boamah Bennie, a presenter of Power FM, an Accra based radio network.
On December 23, this year, the Court presided over by Mrs. Justice Elfreda Dankyi, issued a warrant for the arrest of the presenter.
He was to appear in court in person.
Bennie had failed to appear in court when the state pushed for a contempt application against him for insulting the President.
However, when the case was called, Mr. Kodjogah Adawudu, who represented the respondent (Bennie), said his client was unwell and he had forwarded an excuse duty issued from the Kaneshie Polyclinic to the court. ....

Court rescinds arrest warrant for Power FM presenter
The Criminal Division of the Accra High Court presided over by Justice Elfreda Dankyi has rescinded the arrest warrant it issued for Oheneba Boamah Bennie, a presenter with Accra-based radio station Power FM.
On Wednesday, the Court issued the warrant for the arrest of Oheneba Boamah Bennie, after he failed to appear before the court yesterday when the case was called.
Per the order of the court, Bennie must be arrested and produced before the court today, (Thursday, December 24, 2020).
He is facing a charge of contempt.
But in court today, the court rescinded the arrest warrant after counsel for the Respondent, Victor Kodjogah Adawudu had written to the court with an attached medical excused duty of the respondent’s health from the Kaneshie Polyclinic. ....
