While conducting training-of-trainers (TOT), I made sure all participants fully understood the difference between tourists and excursionists although they were selected from various tourism sectors to undergo TOT and be accredited as trainers for tourism frontliners across the country.
They were also told to visit “Go to MyTourismData Portal” in Tourism Malaysia’s website, which provides invaluable data for our inbound tourism industry, including figures for foreign visitor arrivals that are updated regularly in cooperation with the Immigration Department.
As for domestic visitors, the latest figures are released by the Department of Statistics at the end of every June. ....

THE report “Consumers can also turn to civil court – Rosol” and letter “Tribunals must take into account intellectual disability”

But consumers would have to pay lawyers to file civil suits with no guarantee of winning and also open themselves to countersuits, whereas the tribunal entertains claims from individual consumers only and not companies.
Hence, small claims courts have been set up in many countries around the world to avoid lengthy and expensive litigations. ....

YESTERDAY, Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced that travelling for tourism is now allowed but only between states under the recovery movement control order (RMCO), but not those still under conditional movement control order (CMCO).
He said those wanting to travel for tourism must use the services of tour agencies registered under the Tourism, Culture and Arts Ministry, and use transport provided by them.
Also, tour agencies will need to get approval from police for cross-border travel.
While travelling, they must proceed directly to the destination at another RMCO state and are not allowed to stop when passing through a CMCO state. They must also reserve their accommodation and tourism activities ahead of the trip. ....

SINCE March 18 last year, various forms of movement control have been imposed in Malaysia starting with the movement control order (MCO), which was later loosened to conditional MCO (CMCO) and further relaxed to recovery MCO (RMCO).
For Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, CMCO was introduced in May and RMCO in June.
Due to the spike in infections, the CMCO had to be reimposed from Nov 9 but rendered ineffective after inter-district and interstate travel restrictions were lifted from Dec 7.
It did not take long for infections to hit the roof with a record of 2,525 cases on the last day of 2020. After another 28,251 cases were recorded during the first 12 days of this year, MCO had to be imposed on five states and three federal territories from Jan 13. ....
