KLCI slips below 1,600-point level as regional markets pause


At 10.15am, the FBM KLCI had lost 8.66 points to 1,597.48.

The losers included Heineken Malaysia Bhd, Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd, Hong Leong Bank Bhd (HLB), Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd (PetChem), Pentamaster Corp Bhd, UWC Bhd, Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM), Hengyuan Refining Company Bhd and Genting Bhd.

KLCI pares loss, stays below 1,600 on cautious regional sentiment


KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 17): The main index of Bursa Malaysia pared some of its loss before the midday break today, but remained below the 1,600-point level in line with cautious regional markets.
At 12.30pm, the FBM KLCI was down 8.10 points at 1,598.04. The index earlier dropped to a low of 1,596.45.
Broader market sentiment remained cautious with 416 losers and 367 gainers, while 712 counters traded unchanged. Trading volume was 5.99 billion shares valued at RM2.79 billion.

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 10 Rubber glove maker Supermax Corp Bhd and plastic products manufacturer Ralco Corp Bhd are both expecting a less than one per cent capacity loss in annual output following a temporary shutdown of their factories.
Operations at Supermax’s plant in Meru, Klang halted from today until February 12, while Ralco’s plant in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan will be closed until February 15 amid several positive cases of Covid-19 among their workers. ....

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 10): Based on corporate announcements and news flow today, companies that may be in focus tomorrow (Feb 11) include: British American Tobacco (Malaysia) Bhd (BAT Malaysia), Sapura Energy Bhd, Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB), Texchem Resources Bhd, Permaju Industries Bhd, Kejuruteraan Asastera Bhd (KAB), Yi-Lai Bhd, Supermax Corp Bhd, Ralco Corp Bhd, VS Industry Bhd and NWP Holdings Bhd.
British American Tobacco (Malaysia) Bhd saw its net profit sink 25.57% to RM72.72 million for the fourth quarter ended Dec 31, 2020 (4QFY20), from RM97.70 million for 4QFY19, as it recorded lower revenue and higher operating expenses, while cost of sales grew. Quarterly revenue slipped to RM660.23 million from RM662.45 million. It announced a fourth interim dividend of 27 sen, payable on March 9. For the full year, the group’s net profit dropped 30.04% to RM241.84 million, from RM345.7 million last year, which it blamed on the continued growth of the tobacco and vaping black marke ....
