LAHORE: Keeping in view the environmental impact assessment reports submitted by the Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) and Lahore Development Authority (LDA), the Punjab’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has decided to hold public hearings on the Ravi Riverfront Urban Development Project and LDA City Naya Pakistan Apartment project to receive objections, suggestions etc from the public at large in this regard.
The public hearings on the EIAs of RUDA and LDA would be held on Feb 21 and 22, respectively. ....

As the opposition’s deadline for the government to quit by January 31 passed without any event, Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday threw down the gauntlet, saying he would resign if the opposition leaders return the wealth they had looted from the nation.

LAHORE:The Punjab government on Friday undertook before the Lahore High Court that all the environmental laws and regulations were being fully complied with in all development projects, including the Ravi Riverfront Urban Development Project (RUDAP).
A law officer told the court that a report for Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of the riverfront project had been submitted to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Justice Shahid Karim observed that the project in the river surroundings should be focused towards environmental laws and no land acquisition or construction shall take place without hearing public objections of the aggrieved persons. ....

Ravi Riverfront Project Attracts $8 Billion in Foreign Investments
The Ravi Riverfront Urban Development Project (RUDP) has attracted foreign investments of over $8 billion to develop the world’s largest riverfront modern city similar to Dubai.
A member of the Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA), Iftikhar Ali Malik, revealed this following a meeting with a delegation of builders and developers that was jointly chaired by Zain Zubair Khalid Mirza and Shehroz Hassan on Sunday.

Riverfront report stresses urgent revival of Ravi - Newspaper

LAHORE: Major remedies have been recommended for revitalisation of the Ravi river under the Ravi Riverfront Urban Development Project following various test reports on wastewater quality.
With the launch of civil work on the project after approval and submission of the Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) report, the project team is set to first start work on the renaissance of the river.
“After signing of the Indus Waters Treaty, India constructed additional diversion capacity at Madhopur headworks, diverting the perennial flows. The flows that used to be released downstream to be picked up at Balloki were also diverted from Madhopur. Subsequently, India constructed Thein Dam in 2000 with a live storage capacity of 1.92 million acre feet (MAF). With this India is now capable of storing the flows that used to flow downstream of Madhopur headworks,” reads an internal report of the riverfront project. ....
