Pat Conway bid for judge post withdrawn amid illegal vote allegations

CONCORD – Rockingham County Attorney Patricia Conway asked Gov. Chris Sununu to withdraw her nomination to serve as a Superior Court judge on Wednesday, two days after incoming Attorney General John Formella was asked to investigate possible voter fraud allegations against her dating back to 2008.
“…So we won’t be taking that up,” Sununu told the Executive Council at their regular meeting. That was the end of the discussion on the subject with Sununu offering no explanation for Conway’s withdrawal.
Associate Attorney General James Boffetti told InDepthNH.org Wednesday that Formella received a request from Executive Councilor Cinde Warmington, D-Concord, on Monday to do a full investigation of allegations that Conway voted in Atkinson in 2008 while living in Salem. ....

Rochester police officer indicted on sex assault charges

ROCHESTER – A Rochester police officer with 13 years in the department is facing four charges of aggravated felonious sexual assault.
The August grand jury indictments, handed down by the Rockingham County Attorney’s office, allege that Patrolman Randy Smith, 35, of 14 Misty Lane, Rochester, committed Class A felony assaults against a woman identified only with initials. The charges carry a potential sentence of 10-20 years in prison on each count. An indictment indicates the grand jury found the case warrants a trial.
Two of the indictments allege that Smith, between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2017, sexually assaulted the woman. One count alleges he used his superior physical strength, and the second count states he used an element of surprise, before she could flee or resist. ....
