Driving change: $85M in highway projects on spring tender schedule in Sask.

More than $85 million worth of work is to be done on Saskatchewan’s highways under the provincial government’s spring tender schedule.
Among the projects up for tender are:
Highway 3 twinning west of Prince Albert;
Highway 11 intersection improvements south of Saskatoon;
Highway 20 turning lane construction near Humboldt;
Highway 24 grading and paving from Leoville to west of Chitek Lake;
Highway 28 surfacing from Lake Alma to Radville;
Highway 35 repairs at Tisdale;
Highway 38 embankment safety improvement south of Greenwater Provincial Park;
Highway 135 lighting improvement at Pelican Narrows Airport;
Highways 155 and 908 spot improvements north of Buffalo Narrows and north of Ile-a-la-Crosse; and ....

Helping people survive a disaster part of job for Red Cross volunteer in Weyburn


This is National Volunteer Week in Canada, running from April 18-24, and Miller spoke about her passion for being a volunteer as well as why she enjoys providing her time and skills to the Canadian Red Cross.
Part of her role with the Red Cross has been to recruit volunteers for the organization for communities in southeast Saskatchewan, providing training for them, as well as responding to small and large disasters.
“If someone has a fire or a flood in their home, I would respond on behalf of the Red Cross. They have a program that will provide support for individuals for the first 72 hours, so people will have time to get back on their feet,” said Miller. ....

RCMP respond to multiple highway crashes, advise residents not to travel


The RCMP responded to multiple collisions on hazardous highways on Tuesday.

The RCMP responded to multiple collisions on hazardous highways on Tuesday, and asked drivers to avoid travel.
According to an RCMP news release issued Tuesday afternoon, none of the crashes had resulted in injuries. ....

Highway closures, snowy conditions continue throughout southeast Sask.


 
REGINA
Areas of southeast Saskatchewan continue to deal with highway closures and weather warnings due to a spring storm that brought snow and high winds.
A part of Highway 1 east of Regina remains closed due to slippery conditions.
Other road closures include portions of Highways 48 and 33 southeast of Regina, and a stretch of Highway 39 northwest of Estevan.
Late on Monday night, Saskatchewan RCMP asked motorists not to travel throughout the entire southeast portion of the province, due to reduced visibility and slippery roads.
In a release, police said officers responded to at least a dozen vehicle crashes in areas of Highway 1 east of Regina on Monday night. ....
