The Foreign Office on Monday asked 12 officials of the Indian High Commission (IHC) to quarantine, after a family member of an official tested positive for Covid-19.
According to reports, the officials were asked to undergo quarantine along with their family members and drivers after an official’s spouse tested positive for the coronavirus. The officials were made to undergo rapid antigen tests at their arrival at the airport.
Foreign Office Spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhry said the 12 Indian High Commission officials and a group of their families had entered Pakistan through the Wagha border on May 22 where they were tested. The reports confirmed that the wife of an official had contracted the coronavirus. ....

No proof triple mutant from India reached Pakistan, say Pakistani health officials.
The Indian coronavirus variant has spread to around 50 countries in the world and now declared a ‘variant of concern’ and a global health risk by the World Health Organization.

KARACHI: Reviewing the national guidelines for the use of AstraZeneca’s Covid-19 vaccine AZD1222 within 24 hours, the federal health authorities on Sunday said use of coronavirus (Covid-19) Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine among less than 40 years be restricted irrespective of gender (till availability of further data).
“(On the recommendations of an expert committee), we have updated the interim guidelines (for the use of AstraZeneca’s Covid-19 vaccine AZD1222) today. There are two key changes: Use among less than 40 years be restricted irrespective of gender (till availability of further data). 2. Interval between doses fixed 12 weeks instead of range of 8-12 weeks mentioned in earlier version,” Director General Health Pakistan Dr Rana Muhammad Safdar told The News on Sunday. ....

Under new guidelines, government restricts use of AstraZeneca’s coronavirus vaccine for people under 40 years of age.
The restriction for people under 40 years of age is irrespective of gender.
Another change in guidelines is that the interval between doses will be 12 weeks instead of a range of 8-12 weeks mentioned earlier.
