New Delhi, May 11 : As part of the Sewa Hi Sangathan campaign, two BJP MPs from the national capital have opened more than half-a-dozen Covid care centres across the city.
Lok Sabha MPs Parvesh Verma and Ramesh Bidhuri have started the facilities having more than 500 beds in their respective constituencies.
Verma has opened six Covid care centres in his constituency, and promises to open at least one in each Assembly constituency in the west Delhi area. ....

The oxygen meant for industries will now be diverted for medical use due to the spike in coronavirus cases in the country. In a communication to all states, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla said the central government-constituted Empowered Group-II has recommended prohibiting the supply of oxygen for industrial purposes by manufacturers and suppliers from April 22 till further orders, with exceptions of nine specified industries. ....

Over 25,000 people have tested COVID-19 positive in the last 24 hours in Delhi and less than 100 ICU beds remain available in hospitals, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Sunday, delivering more bad news in an unprecedented public health crisis sweeping not just the capital but the entire nation.
Pointing out that the positivity rate has gone up from 24 per cent to 30 per cent in just 24 hours, he said due to fast pace in increase of COVID-19 infections, hospital beds and oxygen for patients are rapidly depleting in the city.
Terming the COVID-19 situation in the National Capital “very serious”, Kejriwal wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, seeking help for beds and oxygen for coronavirus patients. ....
