ROBBINS, Ill. (WLS) A high school art teacher is thanking National Guard members for their kindness.
Jennifer Glaz teaches at Shepard High School in Palos Heights. When she got her COVID-19 vaccine at Robbins Health Center, she told Illinois National Guard members she was nervous, so they helped her stay calm.
Eliana Menlik, who administered Glaz s shot, even wrote Hi Charlie on the Band-Aid for Glaz s son, who was also nervous about his mom getting the vaccine.
That level of care and thoughtfulness, it didn t need to happen, but it was exactly what my soul needed, Glaz said. ....

Cook County Health Vaccination Sites Closed Tuesday Due to Snowstorm
Those who are scheduled for appointments on Tuesday will be contacted and rescheduled this week, according to health officials

Cook County Health will close the majority of its COVID-19 vaccination sites Tuesday as several more inches of snow are expected to result in dangerous travel conditions.
Vaccinations will continue, however, at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital, Provident Hospital and the Ruth M. Rothstein CORE Center, according to a news release from Cook County Health.
The closure applies to all remaining vaccination facilities, including the large-scale sites at South Suburban College in South Holland, the Tinley Park Convention Center and Triton College in River Grove. ....

Winter Weather Causing Delays in Federal COVID Vaccine Delivery in Illinois
According to Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker s office, the federal government has notified all states of COVID-19 vaccine delivery delays across the entire country due to adverse weather and road conditions.
According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and Operation Warp Speed deliveries slated for Tuesday would be significantly impacted as adverse weather impacted operations at facilities where vaccines and ancillary supply kits originate.
The departments warned that delays could continue throughout the week.
To help offset delayed vaccine deliveries, the state of Illinois proactively ordered vaccine to be delivered to its Strategic National Stockpile Receipt, Store, and Stage site in anticipation of adverse weather, Pritzker s office said in a release. State officials announced Wednesday that more than 100 vaccination sites opened in the past week, adding 22 local health department, medical center and hospital locations as well as two new mass vaccination sites and 110 retail pharmacy stores.
