Romsey Town FC are playing their part in the vaccination rollout by providing free parking to NHS staff and volunteers administering the Covid jab. The football club received a request for help from GP practices in Romsey and North Baddesley who started vaccinating those in the highest priority group in December. Test Valley Borough Council (TVBC) arranged for 27 free parking spaces at Crossfield Hall for patients, and Romsey Town FC agreed to give all staff and volunteers 15 free parking spaces at the club for the duration of the clinics. The hospitality was also extended by the Romsey Town Burger Bar, offering free drinks and discounted food to staff, on production of valid ID. ....
Police detaining the men in Romsey Community leaders have praised the police for detaining two men on suspicion of shoplifting in a Hampshire town. Hampshire police arrested two men, following a short chase last Tuesday, after a perfume gift set was stolen from Boots, The Hundred. The 33-year-old and 34-year-old, both from Southampton, have now been released from custody, but remain under investigation. The arrests were made as part of Operation Scrooge. Cllr Nik Daas, who represents Romsey Abbey on Test Valley Borough Council (TVBC), believes the arrest is a reminder Hampshire Constabulary will continue to defend Romsey over Christmas. ....
The Government map breaks down COVID-19 rates into smaller geographic areas, including nations and counties. At a lower level, it breaks them into Middle Layer Super Output Areas, or MSOAs, which are smaller, postcode-linked areas that are used for a range of Government statistics. Areas are colour-coded by their rate, with purples and blues being the highest, and greens and yellows the lowest. In our area, the MSOA with the highest number of cases in the week to December 15, when the latest figures were available, is Romsey Town which had 21 cases and a weekly rolling rate of 351.9 cases per 100,000 people. ....
HAMPSHIRE police have revealed they will continue to patrol Romsey s crime hot-spots after officers identified more than 20 teenagers behind anti-social behaviour in the town. According to Hampshire Constabulary, there has been a rise in anti-social behaviour in the past two weeks in Romsey Town Centre. After a week of action, the Romsey Neighbourhood Team officers have identified 24 people, between 13 and 18-years-old, who were responsible for the anti-social behaviour. On Saturday and Sunday, a Section 35 dispersal order was launched to cover the town centre, resulting in eight people being dispersed on Sunday evening. Now, the police force has warned formal action will be taken against repeat offenders. ....
