COLUMBUS, Miss. (WTVA) - The former assistant to the Lowndes County administrator sued the county and a supervisor for sexual harassment.
In the federal lawsuit, Cynthia Thompson alleged Harry Sanders made inappropriate comments and physical contact.
She claimed the incidents occurred on several occasions in the office.
Thompson said she did mention the incidents to former county administrator Ralph Billingsley who has since left the position.
In her lawsuit, Thompson stated she felt bringing the complaints to the Board of Supervisors would not result in any action against Sanders because other Board members seemed to side with him on matters consistently. ....

During its Monday meeting, the Lowndes County Board of Supervisors made five board appointments, returning four of five current board members to their positions. But it was the one position that went to a new applicant that drew pointed comments from District 5 Supervisor Leroy Brooks over how the appointment process was handled.
Of the five board appointments, only one position a seat on the Community Counseling board had more than one applicant. Former county administrator Ralph Billingsley applied to be re-appointed. Christina Shumpert, who works for Columbus Municipal School District, also applied.
