(WAFF) - When there are emergencies on the water, first responders need to know what to do. The Coast Guard, state and local first responders in Marshall County participated in training exercises on Lake Guntersville. They learned how to respond to potential emergencies such as terrorist attacks, major collisions, or chemical spills. Guntersville Police Chief Jim Peterson said most of the boat operators are not able to operate around a vessel that’s underway or moving at the same time as a tow boat. ....

Spiller received over 43 percent of the vote, while businessman Craig Carter, received 18 percent. This election consisted of five candidates four Republicans and one democratic candidate. The race is now down to two Republican candidates, both looking to make their mark on Austin. Spiller has the endorsement from former United States Secretary of Energy and Texas Governor, Ricky Perry. “It’s official! Our campaign has made the runoff. Due to the strong support of you and your neighbors, we came in first place out of five candidates with almost 44% of the vote.
