Atlanta Speedwerks survives late-race yellow for first IMSA MPC 1-2 of 2021 » TouringCars.Net

The #84 Atlanta Speedwerks, which started its fifth IMSA MPC weekend in succession from the front row of the grid, lost track position at the very start of the race, but an impressive fightback by Brian Henderson during his opening stint, plus issues for nearest rival Bryan Herta Autosport w/ Curb-Agajanian meant the #84 Honda Civic Type-R was comfortably in the lead following the first round of pit stops.

A late-race caution to extract the VGMC Racing, LLC Honda (#88) from the gravel trap however eradicated Henderson and teammate Robert Noaker’s near four-second lead with less than 15 minutes of the race left to run. The full course yellow also brought Copeland Motorsports (#27) and Road Shagger Racing (#61), both of which had been squabbling for 2 ....

Atlanta Speedwerks wins hard-fought IMSA MPC round at Watkins Glen » TouringCars.Net

#94: Atlanta Speedwerks Honda Civic FK7 TCR, TCR: Ryan Eversley, winner
Atlanta Speedwerks has taken its first win of the season in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge season in an incident-packed four-hour event at Watkins Glen that also saw the fight for 2
nd place go down to the wire between five cars.

The Georgian team’s #94 Honda Civic Type-R had qualified on the front row alongside the sister #84 entry, but had already fallen to 4
th by the end of the first lap when the Honda’s four-cylinder engine was almost immediately struck with boost issues. The problem compounded Todd Lamb’s opening stint and was only rectified during the car’s first pit stop, a delay that ended up dropped the #94 out of the TCR top 10 altogether. ....

2021 Acura TLX Type-S: Fast But Not Exactly Fun

For at least the last decade Acura hasn’t really known what it wants to be. It has traded away much of its sporty reputation for luxury crossover sales. It dabbled in performance hybrids to support its NSX supercar, but many of those have since been dropped. Acura lost its heritage, walked away from a history of delightful sports cars, coupes, and sedans, and muddled its signature. In recent years, the company has taken great strides to reviving its specialness. The TLX Type-S is the next step in that process.

Full Disclosure: Acura invited me to foggy Carmel, California to test drive its new big-power all-wheel drive sports sedan TLX Type-S. I paid for my travel, riding a motorcycle to the event rather than flying. Acura handed me the keys to a new Type-S for a road drive in the morning and a lead-follow session with pro racer Ryan Eversley on track at Laguna Seca. I was also given a posh hotel room, excellent food, and delicious wine.) ....

We have seen all sorts of exciting encounters via Hoonigan’s “This vs That” series on YouTube, and just because this time we’re dealing with an oldie and a stock 2021 model, it doesn’t mean things won’t get feisty. After all, the vintage model is a 1986 Toyota AE86 that doesn’t feature your average Honda swap when it goes head-to-head with a 2021 Honda Civic Type R Limited Edition for some drag racing fun.

The FK8 iteration of the Civic Type R (part of the tenth-generation series) clearly builds on the company’s heritage of developing great hot hatchbacks that are fun to drive, affordable enough to keep the bank from stamping it with the foreclosure notice, and ready to give hell to just about anyone brave enough to challenge it. ....
