Voters across West Michigan hit the polls Tuesday deciding the fate of multiple school and local government tax proposals on the May 4 election ballot.
Some notable measures on the election ballot were a $192 million bond proposal from Kentwood Public Schools for infrastructure and tech upgrades, a Grand Haven Township $6.1 million bond proposal for park improvements, largely, to develop Schmidt Heritage Park, and a Kalamazoo Regional Educational Service Agency request to renew the county’s 1.5-mill special education tax. ....

MUSKEGON, MI Voters in the Reeths-Puffer School District have rejected a $23 million bond proposal to improve school facilities.
The bond measure failed by a vote of 1,377 opposed to 1,178 in favor, or 54% to 46%, according to unofficial results from the Muskegon County Clerk’s Office.
District officials say the bond funds would have gone toward a number of upgrades, including improvements to the auditorium, technology and equipment upgrades for STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) learning fields, replacement of heating and cooling equipment, synthetic turf at the stadium and soccer fields and more. ....
