Support for Devon's tourism and hospitality sector

A Devon charity is hosting a free online event this week to support those in the county’s hospitality and tourism sector through Covid-19 and recovery.
Devon Communities Together has organised the “Surviving and Thriving in Devon’s Tourism and Hospitality Sector” event on Friday, March 19, as part of its Listening Ear service, which it launched earlier this year in partnership with Devon County Council.
The webinar, from 11:30am-1pm, is specifically designed for those in the sector but those in the supply chain, aligned with the industry, or considering diversification, are very welcome to attend. ....

Brexit impact on fishing industry 'difficult to unpack'

The impact of Brexit on Devon’s fishing industry will not be fully seen until the restrictions associated with the response to the coronavirus pandemic are relaxed. 
Devon County Council’s full council on Thursday, February 18, heard that there were potential economic impacts and also opportunities for Devon as a result of the Brexit trade deal and changes to the fishing quota and catch regimes. 
But councillor Rufus Gilbert, cabinet member for economy and skills, said it was too soon to ascertain the scale of the impact upon the sector and whether impacts are temporary, or likely to be longer lasting.  ....
