An early weekend accident involving a Belvidere resident and an Illinois State Trooper is a very important reminder of two different life-saving laws. Obviously, all laws need to be obeyed but this morning s accident is the fifth Scott s Law related cash in 2021 and it s only mid-February.
Early Saturday (Feb. 13, 2021), ISP shared details of an accident on I-39 near Baxter Road involved a Belvidere man who crashed into a State Trooper s squad vehicle. This accident led to a
Driving Under the Influence charge and an additional charge for violating Scott s Law, a.k.a. 
Move Over Law. The accident just after 6 a.m. after an Illinois State Trooper was assisting a motorist in changing a tire in inclement weather when, according to Illinois State Police,  a Jeep crashed into the rear of the Trooper’s squad car. The trooper s vehicle was parked directly behind the vehicle being assisted with its emergency lights were on. Thankfully, no one was injured in the accident ....
