Vaccines expected to arrive next week in Belmont County | News, Sports, Jobs

ST. CLAIRSVILLE Belmont County’s COVID-19 cases and deaths related to the pandemic continue to increase, with Deputy Health Director Robert Sproul voicing hope that a vaccine will soon arrive for health care workers as the holiday season continues.
He answered several questions about the vaccine and how it would be distributed when he gave his weekly update Wednesday to the Belmont County Board of Commissioners.
Sproul said Belmont County has had a total of 2,959 positive cases since the start of the pandemic, with 957 people isolated with active cases. Sproul said 1,897 people have recovered, 48 people are hospitalized, and there have been 57 deaths associated with the virus. Sproul said his staff continues the work of tracing people who have been in contact with an infected person and instructing them to quarantine. ....

WHEELING Along with protection from a virus that has killed hundreds and sickened thousands in West Virginia, healthcare workers throughout the Ohio Valley also gained hope and relief as they were among the first to receive COVID-19 vaccines.
Vaccinations began early Tuesday morning at both Wheeling Hospital and Reynolds Memorial Hospital. At Wheeling Hospital, nurse’s aide Debra Ronevich and physician’s assistant Daniel Burns were the first two to be inoculated. At Reynolds, ER nurse manager Brittany DeCrease was the first to receive the vaccine. ....

WHEELING Along with protection from a virus that has killed hundreds and sickened thousands in West Virginia, health care workers throughout the Ohio Valley also gained hope and relief as they were among the first to receive COVID-19 vaccines.
Vaccinations began early Tuesday morning at both Wheeling Hospital and Reynolds Memorial Hospital in Glen Dale. At Wheeling Hospital, nurse’s aide Debra Ronevich and physician’s assistant Daniel Burns were the first two to be inoculated. At Reynolds, ER nurse manager Brittany DeCrease was the first to receive the vaccine.
West Virginia healthcare workers are receiving the Pfizer-BioNTech version of the vaccine, which was authorized for emergency use late Friday by the Food and Drug Administration and arrived at local hospitals Monday. ....

Hospitals Begin Vaccine Rollouts to Healthcare Workers | News, Sports, Jobs

COVID-19 vaccinations will begin Tuesday morning for front-line workers at both Wheeling Hospital and Reynolds Memorial Hospital, a massive step in curbing the spread of a virus that claimed three more lives between Ohio and Marshall counties.
The hospitals’ front-line workers represent the first part of the first phase in the state of West Virginia’s vaccination rollout. They will receive the Pfizer version of the vaccine, which gained approval for emergency 11.65 distribution Friday night.
Wheeling Hospital Assistant Vice-President Tony Martinelli said hospital staff traveled to Morgantown on Monday to retrieve the first doses of the vaccine. ....
