It’s always tough narrowing down a list of the year’s best Houston-made albums. There’s an abundance of talent, to be sure, that rarely gets the notice it deserves. There are also just so many different kinds of singers and bands and musicians. It’s another display of Houston’s much-heralded diversity.
The past year posed a unique challenge for every musician. They were expected to balance moments of escapism and thoughtful ruminations on everything we experienced this year: dirty politics, pandemic horror, confronting racism. And it had to sound great. ....
