The Keystone Trails Association (KTA) and Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources awards the State Forest Trails Award to anyone who hikes all 798 miles of 17 trails in Pennsylvania’s state forest.
The KTA launched an annual Hiking Awards Program in 1961 to recognize hikers “whose enjoyment of Pennsylvania’s trails might serve as an example and inspiration to their peers. ....

While the pandemic caused a flurry of event cancellations last year, some outdoor outings are a “go” this summer, including the 24th Rachel Carson Trail Challenge.
The 35-mile trek though rugged, hilly terrain only adds to the challenge of the event, which will start in Harrison Hills Park in Harrison at sunrise and finish at North Park in Pittsburgh’s North Hills by sunset. ....
