Stoney appointed K-State interim chief diversity and inclusion officer

Kansas State University President Richard Myers has named longtime College of Education faculty member Be Stoney as interim chief diversity and inclusion officer.
Stoney will serve while a national search is conducted to permanently fill the vacancy left by Bryan Samuel, who is departing K-State for a similar position at the University of Texas at Arlington.
In a news release Tuesday, Myers said Stoney will be relied upon to help the university promote a culture of inclusion. She’ll also help continue implementation of all diversity and inclusion plans in place, including the Action Plan for a More Inclusive K-State. ....

The Riley County Police Department anticipates about $1.2 million in unused personnel funds as it closes out the 2020 budget cycle.
RCPD Capt. Josh Kyle presented end of year expenditures Monday to the Riley County Law Board. He says the department projects money will be available based primarily on the fact that a number of open positions remain unfilled. While the deficits in the communications center have stabilized, Kyle says corrections now has several vacancies.
“As a result, we currently have 13 open positions and that’s fairly typical for RCPD on any given month and so an overwhelming majority of those funds are due to a number of open positions,” he said. ....
