ALTON Applications are being accepted for a vacancy on the Alton Community Unit School District board of education.
The board is accepting applications and resumes from candidates to serve at least a two-year term. The vacancy was created by the April 6 election of former school board member Rosetta Brown as 4th Ward Alderwoman for the Alton City Council.
Candidates for the vacant school board post must live in Alton, Wood River or Foster townships in Madison County or Godfrey Township in Jersey County. Residents from Godfrey Township in Madison County are not eligible because all of the allowable seats from that township are currently filled by incumbent board members.
