Kyle Andre Alan Lewis, 26, was sentenced to consecutive prison sentences on Monday.
Lewis pleaded guilty to multiple third-degree felonies in May, including unlawful acquisition of a financial card, possession of a firearm by a restricted person and controlled substance charges. Lewis was charged in seven felony cases this year; however, court records show one case against Lewis was dismissed by prosecutors after it was found to be a duplicate filing.
Defense attorney Joe Saxton argued for a lesser jail sentence for his client, but stated Lewis was âwilling to submit himself to the court.â

âI know I do deserve some jail time,â Lewis told the court, explaining he wanted to turn his life around. ....

Man accused of sexually abusing children waives preliminary hearing

A 74-year-old man facing multiple child sexual abuse felonies waived his preliminary hearing on Wednesday.
Roberto Gustavo Ponce appeared in 1st District Court via video conference call from the Cache County Jail. Ponce faces 10 counts of first-degree aggravated sexual abuse of a child filed with the court last month.
During the appearance, Ponce elected to waive the right to his preliminary hearing under advisement of his attorney, who told the court it may lead to a more favorable resolution for his client.
Ponce is set to appear before the court again for a pretrial conference on May 5.

Preliminary hearing set for man accused of sexually abusing children

A 74-year-old man accused of sexually abusing children was set to appear for a preliminary hearing during his 1st District Court appearance on Wednesday.
Roberto Gustavo Ponce faces 10 counts of first-degree aggravated sexual abuse of a child for incidents alleged to have happened around Jan. 1.
During his appearance in court via video call from the Cache County Jail, Ponceâs defense counsel asked the court for a preliminary hearing to determine probable cause for the charges leveled against him.
The hearing is slated for April 21.
