Rochdale has been named as one of the first towns to benefit from the government’s Towns Fund.
Rochdale will receive £23.6million to “support its emerging digital, manufacturing and creative sectors – while helping the town centre to become a vibrant and attractive destination for residents.”
A bid for £25million was made in December 2020, asking for money for projects including a new advanced machinery and productivity institute at Kingsway Business Park, developing the proposal for hundreds of new homes on the site of Central Retail Park, supporting delivery and improvements to hundreds of homes (led by Rochdale Boroughwide Housing), developing brownfield sites for housing; and improving crossing points and additional ....

The council has submitted a bid to the Government’s Towns Fund, with an advanced manufacturing institute within Kingsway Business Park at the heart of its proposal.
Also included in the bid are plans to help the delivery of almost 1,000 homes on brownfield sites in the borough.
As with the other Towns Fund bids submitted from the region, the Town Board responsible is made up of public and private sector partners

Rochdale bids for £25m from Towns Fund

A bid for £25million has been submitted to the government’s Towns Fund for a number of projects in Rochdale.
The creation of a brand new advanced manufacturing institute and the building of almost 1,000 new homes on brownfield sites are among the projects being put forward by Rochdale s Towns Fund board, which is made up of public and private sector partners from across the borough.
Spearheaded by the Department for Housing, Communities and Local Government, The Towns Fund is a £3.4bn pot of cash set aside by government to help drive economic regeneration in selected areas. One hundred different towns from across the UK were given the opportunity to bid for a share of the money. ....
