Saturday, April 10, 2021 Dear Editor: Yvonne and I appreciate being able to receive our second Pfizer COVID-19 shot on March 25 from the Barry County Health Department in the Cassville Park, even though it was raining. We appreciated Roger Brock, the administer of the Barry County Health Department, David Compton, Barry County Emergency Management Director, the Barry County Health nurses and the city of Cassville employees, who assisted with the clinic. The Barry County Health Department hosted a two-day vaccination clinic Thursday and Friday and administered 1,155 total vaccines. Dr. Lisa Roark lent a hand during the mass COVID-19 vaccination clinic hosted last week. She helped administer vaccine shots to more than 1,100 people, including, Shawn Post. Tuesday, Wednesday clinics in Monett would have inoculated 2,500 Mass vaccination clinics scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday at the Monett Park Casino have been canceled due to the dangerously cold temperatures and possibility of additional snow. The clinics were a planned cooperative event between Barry and Lawrence counties, the state of Missouri, and the Centers for Disease Control to vaccinate eligible people. Those eligible included residents over 65 years of age, individuals with health conditions that increase the risk of serious illness from COVID, health care workers, and first responders. These clinics would have been capable of vaccinating nearly all of the 2,500 eligible people on health department waiting lists for vaccine in Barry and Lawrence counties. ....
