A developer with an unfinished project to build cellphone towers in Glenwood Canyon is concerned that other players in the industry are trying to create additional wireless networks there that could lead to a proliferation of towers and antennas, threatening the canyon’s environmental and historic integrity.
Canyon Summits, a Massachusetts-based company formed to develop and manage wireless facilities in Glenwood Canyon, first secured leases from the White River National Forest and the Colorado Department of Transportation in 2012 to build cellphone towers on those agencies’ property at the four rest areas off of Interstate 70 as it threads its way through the canyon of the Colorado River. ....

No. 8 May's playoff run derailed by No. 13 Westbrook, 45-33

WINTERS – The No. 8 May Lady Tigers were denied a trip to the Region II-A girls basketball semifinals as the No. 13 Westbrook Lady Wildcats secured a 45-33 Wednesday in third round playoff action.
The three-point struggles for May (22-5) continued as the Lady Tigers sank just one of 13 treys, with the only make occurring with two seconds left in the third quarter.
“The last two games we have not shot the three well, and it showed tonight also,” said May head coach Derek Stevens. “I knew they’d have a little size on us, I knew that was going to be a problem, and I knew they were aggressive on the boards, both ends. Those were the main differences in this game tonight.” ....

May girls oust Munday, 40-32, to reach regional quarterfinals

BRECKENRIDGE – On the strength of a 15-3 run to end the first half and start the second, the No. 8 May Lady Tigers flipped the momentum – and kept it – en route to a 40-32 Region II-A area round victory over the No. 15 Munday Mogulettes Monday.
With the win, District 13-A co-champion May (22-4) will advance to the Region II-A quarterfinals to face District 14 champion and 13th-ranked Westbrook (23-4), a 60-27 area round winner over Roby, at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Winters.
“Just like every game this year they played with grit,” said May head coach Derek Stevens. “That’s our motto this year, GRIT – Growth, Response, Intensity and Tough on the court. Once again they showed that. Things weren’t going right for us a lot as far as shooting, we haven’t got back in a groove on our threes. And we made some passes tonight in my opinion that were junior high-like. But we’ll go back and fix it next practice.” ....
