New Delhi, May 25 (IANS) Delhi Food and Supply Minister Imran Hussain on Tuesday directed officials to ensure that free ration (food grains) is being distributed at the scheduled times from all Fair Price Shops across the capital.

New Delhi, May 24 (IANS) The Supreme Court on Monday said its main concern is that benefits which are meant for migrant workers must reach them and stressed the process of their registration is woefully slow. The top court said the Centre and state governments must expedite registration of migrant workers and also those working in the unorganised sectors.

Move follows Centre’s plan to step up entitlement
The Tamil Nadu government has decided to give an enhanced entitlement of foodgrains to all rice-drawing ration cardholders in June and July.
The decision follows the Centre’s initiative to double the entitlement of foodgrains to the priority household (PHH) cards for two months.
No discrimination
There are about 2.07 crore rice-drawing cards in the State, of which around 1.08 crore come under the category of PHH cards. The Centre’s scheme of concession leaves out the remaining 99 lakh non-priority household (NPHH) cards. This forces the State government to ensure that there is no discrimination against the NPHH cardholders, while seeking to mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 lockdown. ....

Srinagar, May 16 (IANS) The Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs has started distributing an additional free 5 kg of foodgrains per person for the months of May and June, through its PDS (ration ghats) among the 66.26 lakh Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) and Priority Household (PHH) cardholders in J&K.
