Facebook will use its HQ as a vaccination centre, says Sandberg

Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook’s Chief Operating Officer (COO), has announced that Facebook will convert part of its Menlo Park headquarters into a vaccination site for “hard-hit communities”. The conversion of part of its HQ will be done in participation with Ravenswood Family Health Network. Sandberg said the firm will also partner with the State of California and local non-profits to support mobile vaccination clinics in four of the state’s hardest-hit regions.
In her post, Sandberg wrote:
“As more COVID-19 vaccines roll out across the country, we are finally seeing glimmers of hope, which can grow so long as we continue to make progress. At Facebook, we’re focused on doing our part to help people get vaccinated, especially those in underserved communities. ....

Ravenswood Family Health Center in East Palo Alto hosted the clinic, after securing 1,100 Moderna vaccine doses from San Mateo County for local seniors.
We have 1,800 of our patients who are 65 or older, others have been waiting for a while so we opened it up to neighbors who are not our patients, said Natalie Hodgdon at Ravenswood Family Health Center.
The line outside was long. Caregivers and healthcare workers were also invited to get the shot. ....

Palo Alto directs funds to mobile clinic for COVID-19 vaccines, medical services

Adding to the urgency is the fact that Ravenswood s Palo Alto clinic remains closed because of renovations, he said. Bringing on a mobile clinic will give Ravenswood the ability to respond to Palo Altans in a way that is more robust and immediate than if the van is not there.
The council unanimously agreed to distribute the funding to Ravenswood. Before the vote, council member Greg Tanaka sought assurances from Buada that the clinic would be used primarily in Palo Alto.
If every city gets a block grant, I think we need to make sure that services are for people in our city, Tanaka said, ....
