Col Larry Redmon, ex-Army Attache at the United States (US) Embassy in Bangkok, who retired from the military position last month, had played a big role in strengthening Thai-US military cooperation while in Thailand. WASSANA NANUAM talked to him about his experiences.

More than 80 national parks have been temporarily closed due to the latest wave of Covid-19.
The Department of the National Park, Wildlife and Plant Conservation which oversees 155 national parks has said that at present, 84 national parks are not allowing public visits, including Phu Hin Rong Kla, Phu Ruea, Chet Sao Noi, Khao Lak and Khao Laem Ya-Mu Ko Samet national parks.
About 30 national parks have also closed access to some attractions or are not allowing overnight stays such as Khao Yai, Doi Suthep-Pui, Mu Ko Angthong and Namtok Phlio national parks. ....

During the cold season, the mountains of Phu Lom Lo in Phu Hin Rong Kla National Park in Loei turn pink due to the blossoming of wild Himalayan cherry trees known in Thai as phaya suea khrong.
Phu Lom Lo was once a mountainous grassland without a single tree. However, in 2008, Phu Hin Rong Kla National Park chief Mano Manoonsaran initiated a project to reforest the area. The chief chose to grow wild Himalayan cherry trees and the reforestation process started in 2009. ....

During the cold season, the mountains of Phu Lom Lo in Phu Hin Rong Kla National Park in Loei turn pink due to the blossoming of wild Himalayan cherry trees known in Thai as phaya suea khrong.
Phu Lom Lo was once a mountainous grassland without a single tree. However, in 2008, Phu Hin Rong Kla National Park chief Mano Manoonsaran initiated a project to reforest the area. The chief chose to grow wild Himalayan cherry trees like he once did in Chiang Mai. In 2009, Hmong villagers, who were cabbage farmers, were hired to plant and take care of 300,000 seedlings of wild Himalayan cherry in a 1,200 rai area of Phu Lom Lo. ....
