Fort Bragg area Gold Star Youth honor memory of parents with run

One father spent half his life in the Army. Another loved marathons, and another loved fishing and hunting.   Each were soldiers and parents, and 13 of their children will honor their memory with a Memorial Day 5K run Monday in Fayetteville.  Since April 10, the children have spent their Saturdays training with soldiers who have served as their mentors.  They’ve met at Clark Park in Fayetteville   playing games and sharing what’s on their minds, gathering in a circle to proclaim who they are running in memory of, and being encouraged to run.   The national organization was founded by Lisa Hallett after her husband, Capt. John Hallett,30, was killed when returning from a mission in Afghanistan in August 2009.

In that time, Amy Breihan has helped seek second chances for prisoners in Missouri who were younger than age 18 when they were sentenced to life behind bars. Mar 30, 2021 8:56 AM CDT Elizabeth Greene had been practicing with Mirick, O’Connell, DeMallie & Lougee in Worcester, Massachusetts, for two years in 1997 when she heard about a new opportunity. She received an email from a partner who volunteered with the American Heart Association but was moving on to other projects. He told her the organization wanted to rekindle its presence in central Massachusetts and needed someone’s help.
