Manuel Abud will replace Abaroa, who steps down after 16 years
Catching many in the Latin industry by surprise, the Latin Recording Academy announced today that its longtime president and CEO,
Gabriel Abaroa, Jr., is stepping down.
In his stead,
Manuel Abud, the Academy s COO for the past two years, will step into the role of CEO, effective August 1. At that point, Abaroa will become president emeritus, a newly created senior advisory role through which he will continue to assist in some projects and help in Abud s transition into the role.
Although outwardly Abaroa s departure was not expected, the Academy s announcement said it was actually part of a carefully crafted succession plan in which several candidates were considered, according to a statement by board of trustees chair Eduardo Hütt. ....

The Latin Recording Academy as part of an ongoing reorganization of its leadership team has named Manuel Abud as its new CEO, effective August 1.
Gabriel Abaroa Jr., the Latin Recording Academy’s outgoing president and CEO, will move into a newly created president emeritus position, a senior advisory role that will include working on assigned strategic projects while assisting the new CEO in the transition.
Abud was previously the Academy’s COO, joining the organization in 2019 and leading the Academy through a major reorganization as well as taking a leap into digital content development. ....

Tanya Ramos-Puig Named President of Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation

Tanya Ramos-Puig as president of the philanthropic arm of the Latin Recording Academy, effective immediately.
The Coro New York Leadership Center alumna has a track record of growing organizations in key leadership roles at Pencils of Promise, Education Pioneers and The Children s Aid Society. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from NYU and a Master of Science in Urban Policy and Management from The New School. Ramos-Puig has also served as an adjunct professor at LaGuardia Community College.
I am honored to take on the leadership of the Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation, an organization with tremendous credibility and an unparalleled commitment to shaping the future of the next generation of talented young musicians, from around the globe, who share a special passion for Latin music, Ramos-Puig said in a statement.
