"He taught me a lot about the way 'to be French'. He explained to me the French mentality. I owe a large part of my adaptation to him, and, therefore, my happiness to be here. First of all, I was very touched by the man he is. Kylian is very considerate, always happy, polite and kind to everyone. He is a very beautiful person. That’s why we’ve got along so well since our first contact. Then, of course, I had the opportunity to watch him train, to observe his speed, his dribbling repertoire, his intelligence and to see his humility to keep evolving. There, I said to myself: ‘he is our golden boy!’ Speed alone doesn't mean anything. You have to be smart to use it properly, and Kylian is. He is not only very smart and fast, but he also has a huge repertoire of dribbling."

Manchester United consolidated their runners-up position in the Premier League on the weekend.
The Reds emerged as 3-1 winners against Tottenham in London thanks to goals Fred, Edinson Cavani and Mason Greenwood, and the result means United now trail the league leaders Manchester City by just 11 points with one game in hand.
While it seems highly unlikely United's rivals will collapse as far as the title is concerned, the result almost ensured Ole Gunnar Solskjaer 's side will secure Champions League football this season, and success in Europe could also be achieved this campaign.

Real Madrid for the double?! Benzema & Kroos deal bitter blow to Barcelona's Liga title hopes

It may only be thanks to their head-to-head record with Atletico Madrid, with both teams on 66 points, but this was a huge win for Los Blancos.
Shorn of key centre-backs Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane, there was a lot of pressure on a makeshift defence, but they stood firm despite the dismissal of battle-axe Casemiro late on.
Teenage Barcelona substitute Ilaix Moriba came within millimetres of levelling in the last minute of stoppage time, but his strike crashed back off Thibaut Courtois’s crossbar, leaving the visitors devastated, but the hosts jubilant.
This was the most important Clasico in years, with both teams in form and fighting for the chance to usurp Atletico, who place Betis on Sunday, at the summit of the standings.

Lionel Messi: Barcelona star's highlights from his first El Clasico in 2005

Lionel Messi has certainly enjoyed playing against Real Madrid throughout his wonderful career.

The Argentine thrives against Real Madrid and he'll be hoping to torment them once again in the latest instalment of the iconic fixture on Saturday evening.
Messi's first appearance in club football's biggest game actually came over 15 years ago - yes, we feel old too.
At the age of just 18, the diminutive forward was named in Frank Rjikaard's starting XI for Barcelona's trip to the Bernabeu on November 19th, 2005.

Real Madrid vs Barcelona: Ranking legendary players from 'GOAT' to 'Lucky to play in El Clasico'

The biggest match in world football? Many football fans would say so.
This year, it’s bigger than ever.
The two Spanish giants may not be at the peak of their powers but they go into Saturday evening’s clash with hopes of winning La Liga.
Barcelona lead Real Madrid by two points with Atletico Madrid still top by a solitary point.
The outcome of Saturday’s Clasico could decide where the title ends up this season.
However, even the biggest Real Madrid and Barcelona fans would admit that their respective sides aren’t as strong as they once were.

Madrid (AFP) – “Unforgettable,” said Roberto Soldado, remembering the first professional goal he scored.
The header against Olympiakos from a David Beckham cross kept Real Madrid alive in the 2005 Champions League, giving way to a pile-on with Roberto Carlos, Raul, Sergio Ramos and Robinho.
Now, 16 years after his first game in European competition, the 35-year-old Soldado is trying to put off his last.
The days of the Galacticos are long gone as he hopes to engineer one of the biggest victories in Granada’s history against Manchester United in the Europa League quarter-final, first leg on Thursday.

Arsenal 0-3 Liverpool: Trent way ahead of rivals

Arsenal 0-3 Liverpool: Trent way ahead of rivals
Trent Alexander-Arnold showed what he is about with a wonderful assist as Liverpool crushed a poor Arsenal side in the Premier League.
Update: 3 April 2021 20:33 EDT
It's all in the timing, the control of the ball and the precision swing. Like a glorious golf shot, the perfect cross in football is beyond many players, but Trent Alexander-Arnold strikes the football with such pace, whip and dip that
it's no wonder he celebrated Liverpool's opener against Arsenal as though he had headed the ball into the goal himself.
It's The Masters next week at Augusta.

Kieran Tierney won his 19th cap for Scotland against Faroe Islands
Excellent. Marvellous. Brilliant. Unbelievable. Frighteningly good.
Praise was not in short supply for Kieran Tierney after he provided three assists from centre-back in an eye-opening display as Scotland beat Faroe Islands 4-0.
The Arsenal defender himself settled for "no bad" when asked to appraise his performance. But just how good was the 23-year old in the World Cup qualifier at Hampden?
Where was he playing?
Steve Clarke was asked as much post-match, with his questioner comparing Tierney to the best player in the school playground rampaging around the pitch.

'Guardiola is the best manager in the world' - NXGN star Yan Couto on choosing Man City over Barcelona & Bayern Munich

A starring role at the 2019 Under-17 World Cup, where Couto created more chances than any other player, including an assist for Lazaro’s late winner in the 2-1 victory over Mexico in the final, had scouts across Europe interested.
But Couto - who has been dubbed 'The new Dani Alves' by onlookers - was drawn to the idea of a move to City, as well as the opportunity to work with Guardiola.
“After the U17 World Cup that we won with Brazil, some clubs were interested in me: Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Manchester City,” Couto tells
“To me, Pep Guardiola is the best manager in the world, and Manchester City is one of the best clubs in the world at the moment, with a bright future. Therefore, to me, it was the best choice.”

Roberto Carlos makes daring claim about renewed Salah, Ramos spat
Date published: Friday 19th March 2021 2:40 - Jonny Whitfield
Former Real Madrid full-back Roberto Carlos says that Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah will do well to “get close” to Sergio Ramos in the upcoming Champions League clash.
However, another key sub-plot in the match was the battle between Salah and Ramos. Salah left the field in tears in the first half, after injuring his shoulder in a challenge with the defender.
Indeed, the Egyptian missed part of his country’s World Cup campaign as a result.
Speaking to

Roberto Carlos on Sergio Ramos vs Mohamed Salah

Since the fateful final in 2018 that saw Ramos take the Liverpool forward out of the game with an armbar, Madrid have fallen from grace and risen to it again.
Liverpool, meanwhile, completed one of the most satisfying redemption arcs in modern football history, but have seen their Premier League title defence fall to pieces. They will head to the Bernabeu looking more vulnerable than they ever have, since their 2018 defeat in Kyiv.
According to Madrid legend Roberto Carlos, though, there is only going to be one victor in the dominant Salah-Ramos sub-plot. He reckons the Egyptian doesn't stand a chance against the decorated Los Blancos captain.

Tsimikas targeted for transfer & Real Madrid start 'trash talk' - Liverpool FC Roundup

Liverpool fans have had their say already on the Champions League draw, while the rumour mill continues to churn out the usual transfer links.
Madrid begin their regret early
If we beat them, it’s the winners of Chelsea or Porto in the semis and, if we go all the way, the Reds will be the designated ‘away’ team for the final in Istanbul.
As should be expected by now from the club which so infamously declared – via the mouthpiece of their local media – “This Is Anfield – So What?” back in the Rafa Benitez days, the Spanish side have quickly taken to pointing out all the areas they’ll be better than the Reds in.
