The COVID-19 pandemic has led to an all-time high in mental health issues across the world and a collaboration of health care partners in Utah aims to help.
Intermountain Healthcare in Murray has joined with the Utah Department of Human Services, Latino Behavioral Health and the Utah Pride Center to address mental health crisis related to COVID-19 by connecting the partner organizations to community contributions totaling $67 million to improve access to mental health care for marginalized people in Utah. ....

Utah officials push 'unprecedented' campaign to reduce Latino suicide rates

WEST VALLEY CITY Utah Gov. Spencer Cox and the mayor of Utah s most Hispanic city joined together Tuesday to promote an unprecedented initiative one specifically aimed at Utahns suffering a disproportionately higher rate of depression and suicide.
We ve never done a project like this, Cox told reporters after a news conference hosted at West Valley City Hall on Tuesday. We ve done suicide prevention in the past, but nothing at this scale and nothing directed specifically at this sizable and growing population fastest-growing population in our state.
In the bilingual news conference, Cox and West Valley City Mayor Ron Bigelow promoted the Live On campaign, a media campaign aiming to bring awareness of mental health and suicide prevention resources specifically for Utah s Latino community. ....

Derek Brown Will Not Seek Another Term As Utah’s Republican Party Chair
The chair of Utah’s Republican Party announced Tuesday he won’t seek re-election. Derek Brown’s first and only two-year term is coming to an end later this spring. He said in an email to supporters he needs to dedicate more time to his family. He also wrote that he’s proud of all the party has accomplished over the past two years. Those achievements include getting the state GOP out of debt and winning back the 4th Congressional District. The next party chair will be elected by party delegates at the next state convention. ....
