Blue Hill thefts under investigation
ELLSWORTH Hancock County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating two thefts at Blue Hill residences. One occurred on April 27 and the other on May 6. Multiple items were taken from an apartment in the May 6 theft, Deputy Mariza Gionfriddo reported.

Overdose
A Stonington man called for help for his friend, 37, of Ellsworth, who had overdosed and needed an ambulance May 1. “I responded and assisted until an ambulance crew arrived and took him to the hospital,” said Sgt. Dan Harlan.
Arrests
A man who allegedly took a pickup truck from his Stonington mother without permission on May 1 was located by the Veazie Police Department and arrested on Saturday, Harlan reported. ....

Sea farmers say bill to prevent large-scale aquaculture could hurt entire industry

A Maine legislator who hopes to stave off industrial aquaculture and protect lobstermen and women from what he sees as a “large storm” headed for the industry is proposing a bill that small aquaculture farmers say could sink them.
The bill proposed by Rep. Robert Alley, D-Beals, aims to “protect Maine’s ocean waters, support robust regulatory oversight and the long-term health of the aquaculture industry,” according to a concept draft considered by the Committee on Marine Resources Tuesday.   ....

MACOMB In a tradition started during the Western Illinois University School of Agriculture s 100th anniversary, six alumni have been chosen as the 2021 School of Agriculture Distinguished Alumni.
Ten alumni were recognized last year: Mark McCully, Gerry Salzman, Jeff Galle, Terry Kestner, Taylor Steinburg, Gordon Roskamp, Monte Lowderman, Chris Wilson, Martin E. O Connor and Philip E. Bradshaw.
The 100th year anniversary event was a huge success, said School of Agriculture Director Andy Baker. The highlight of the evening was the recognition of our 10 distinguished alumni who were honored that night. All of these individuals have achieved remarkable feats in their careers and are huge supporters of the School of Agriculture. It was great to have our current students hear about their experiences at WIU, and how these experiences provided ....
