KUALA LUMPUR (April 16): Bursa Malaysia reversed yesterday’s mixed performance, with its key index falling in early trade today despite a positive broader market as profit-taking emerged ahead of the weekend, dealers said. At 9.04am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) shed 3.89 points to 1,604.36 from Thursday’s close of 1,608.25. The index opened 0.81 of-a-point weaker at 1,607.44. Rubber gloves were mostly down this morning as investors booked some profit following their strong rebound yesterday with Top Glove Corp Bhd falling six sen to RM5.38, Hartalega Holdings Bhd lost 11 sen to RM9.89, and Supermax Corp Bhd decreased 10 sen to RM5. On the broader market, gainers, however, surpassed losers 231 to 158, while 1,470 counters were unchanged, 320 untraded and 27 others suspended. ....
KUALA LUMPUR (April 14): Bursa Malaysia reversed its earlier gains to close the morning trading session lower amidst mixed regional performance, with selling mostly seen among the heavyweights, led by Public Bank Bhd. At lunch break, the FBM KLCI was 1.9 points easier at 1,595.81, compared with Tuesday’s close of 1,597.71. The index, which opened 2.48 points higher at 1,600.19, moved between 1,594.81 and 1,601.37 throughout the session. Public Bank dragged the composite index down by 1.1 points after falling three sen to RM4.20, with 3.66 million shares changing hands. Genting Bhd was the biggest loser among the 30-index constituents, falling by 1.17% to RM5.07, while Hap Seng Consolidated Bhd was the biggest gainer, rising by 1.04% to RM8.24. ....
KUALA LUMPUR (March 17): Bursa Malaysia was mixed at midday today as losses in the energy, financial and plantation sectors pulled the benchmark index lower. At 12.30pm, the FBM KLCI settled 4.99 points lower at 1,618.97 versus yesterday s close at 1,623.96. The index opened 1.65 points higher at 1,625.61 and fluctuated between 1,616.19 and 1,625.67 throughout the morning session. On the broader market, gainers led losers 536 to 470, while 417 counters were unchanged, 814 untraded and nine others suspended. Total volume stood at 8.07 billion shares worth RM2.42 billion. An analyst said some investors were taking a cautious stance ahead of the conclusion of the US Federal Reserve s (Fed) policy meeting scheduled for today amid a weaker oil market. ....
