Lycoming County United Way team members met last Saturday for a photo with the Williamsport Jersey Mikeâs team, led by Ciara Moore (front row, left of check), which raised over $8,500 in support of United Way programs during the 2021 Month of Giving in March. WILLIAMSPORT – For the past four years, The Lycoming County United Way joined forces with Jersey Mike’s Subs in Williamsport PA for their Months and Days of Giving.
Every year in March, customers are eligible to make donations through the Jersey Mike’s mobile app or in each store. On the annual Day of Giving, local Jersey Mike’s owners and operators donate their resources and every single dollar that comes in. Jersey Mike’s restaurants give 100 percent of the day’s sales – not just profit – to the Lycoming County United Way. ....

Raise the Region 2021 raises over $2M for area nonprofits | News, Sports, Jobs

The annual, 30-hour online fundraiser, Raise the Region, brought in $2,030,647 to help benefit different non-profit organizations that support communities in Lycoming, Union, Northumberland, Snyder, Montour and Columbia counties, between March 10 and 11.
There were 272 non-profits involved and 7,347 different donors.
The $5,000 Blaise Alexander Family Dealerships grand prize award is given to the top small and large organizations with the most unique donors and was given to Cherished Cats Rescue Alliance and Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble.
Second prize winners, Bellabons Pet Recovery Services and Central Pennsylvania Food Bank both received $2,000 and third prize winners, Cats in Bloom and the Lycoming County SPCA both received $1,000. ....

And so it is with deep sorrow that we are missing Marvin H. Staiman, who passed from this life earlier this year.
To say his passing has left a void would be an understatement of the loudest nature.
The fact that he is no longer among us, writing by hand notes to friends and community members alike, leaves a deafening silence.
For some, those letters represented the warmth of friendship.
To others, they represented respect.

Or it could be your elderly neighbor’s story or the person who hands you food at your favorite fast food establishment.
There are so many variations of who might have an income just above the poverty level, while employed, but that person still struggles to meet even the bare minimum cost of basic household needs.
And that was before COVID-19 hit last year.
In Lycoming County with 44,585 households or a population of 113,664, the median household income is $55,045 compared to the state average of $60,905. Of those households, 24 percent are in the Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed category and 14 percent are in the poverty level. ....

MUNCY- As part of an ongoing partnership supporting the health of communities across the region, the Lycoming County United Way recently donated 500 facemasks to UPMC Muncy Place. The masks are part of a joint initiative, Sew the Masks, between the United Way of North Central Massachusetts and AIS, an office furniture company located in Leominster, Mass. United Way of North Central Massachusetts is collaborating with United Ways across the northeastern U.S. to distribute the masks. ....
