Can we get to the source of the PPD problem? Producer price differentials (PPDs) have headlined many dairy economic discussions throughout the pandemic. As the negative number printed on milk checks went up and up last summer and fall, producers have raised the pertinent question: Should Federal Milk Marketing Orders (FMMOs) be altered to try to manage PPDs from swinging so far to the negative? “What does it do?” Cornell’s Andy Novakovic questioned the April 7 “It’s a system of rules. It says this is how this system is going to work. It is not a price support,” Novakovic reminded the audience of federal orders. “They (federal orders) were never designed to guarantee that you would get the cost of production.” ....
CavinKare launches My Cavin’s March 14, 2021 FMCG major CavinKare on Sunday announced the foray of its flagship dairy wing – Cavin’s – into exclusive retail space under the brand My Cavin’s. My Cavin’s aims to directly reach the consumers and provide a blend of shopping and dining experience under one roof, says a company press release. The My Cavin’s outlet launched in Chennai will be offering customers products such as milkshake, lassi, paneer, curd and milk variants of Cavin’s. The outlets will also have exclusive dining spaces. The company plans to scale the number of outlets to 150 outlets across regions by 2025, the release said. ....
Hatsun Agro Product rose 1.99% to Rs 726 after the company announced commercial production at its newly set up modern greenfield dairy processing plant in Solapur, Maharashtra.The plant is the 19th manufacturing location for Hatsun Agro Products (HAP) that has a network of plants in four states of Tamil Nadu, AP, Telangana and Karnataka. The fully automated dairy plant is set up in 72 acres land at a cost of Rs 130 crore in Solapur district in Maharashtra. The plant has specialized imported equipments from Germany to process 6 lakh litres milk per day (LLPD). The company will manufacture milk, curd, butter milk, chaas, lassi, yoghurt and shrikhand at the new plant. Hatsun Agro will market these products under brand names - Arokya and Hatsun . The total milk processing capacity of the company now stands at 52.50 LLPD across all the its manufacturing locations in 5 states. ....
