Lagos First Lady Calls for Implementation of Nutrition Policies

The wife of Lagos State Governor, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has called for prompt approval and implementation of the state’s Policy on Food and Nutrition and the Multi-sectoral plan of Action on Nutrition. Sanwo-Olu made the call at a Nutrition Policy Dialogue recently, in Lagos.
According to the report culled from Protein Challenge NG, the dialogue was organised by the Civil Society Scaling Up Nutrition Nigeria (CS-SUNN) and Lagos State Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget Committee on Food and Nutrition. Theme of the event was: “Exploring Innovative Nutrition Policy Alliances for a Healthier Lagos.”
Sanwo-Olu, represented by Dr. Cecilia Mabogunje, the Medical Director, Massey Children Hospital, Lagos, said the two documents were currently awaiting approval of the State Executive Council. ....

Reminiscence: My Close Encounter with Ndubuisi Kanu

On Wednesday 7th August, 2019, I took time off to continue my research on a publication that I was working on for my former office, the Lagos State Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, where I served as the Director, Public Affairs. The publication, a ‘Collection of Budget Speeches, 1968-2019’, dedicated to all who had governed the State from 1967-2019, was a milestone in the State.
In the course of the project, it was discovered that the 1975/1976 speech read by the first Military Governor of the State, Mobolaji Johnson, was missing and so was that of Ndubuisi Kanu, (1978). Having gotten their numbers, I decided to put a call through, first to Ndubuisi Kanu. I called his number twice but it rang out. ....

The Lagos State Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget has signed a Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) with GIZ Nigeria(Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit) on skills development and sustainable economic growth.
The MoU was signed by the Lagos state commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Mr Sam Egube and Sabine Muller for GIZ.
GIZ Nigeria (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit) was commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the German Federal Foreign Office and operates in the areas of sustainable economic development, technical vocational training, renewable energy and energy efficiency. ....

Analysis: Lagos State 2021 budget of N1.16 trillion will be driven by aggressive taxation

Lagos State thrives as the economic backbone of Nigeria and with its GDP rivaling African nations, it is no surprise that what happens in Lagos, affects Nigeria in its entirety.
Following the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, Lagos State had quite naturally reduced its expectations for the year 2020. From a proposed budget of N1.169 trillion, the State reviewed it downwards by 21% to N920.5 billion – out of which it was still able to attain an overall performance of 86%.
Total revenue alone was 93% of projections and this is despite the pandemic, the additional costs of the #EndSARS protests, as well as the other disruptions that followed. As the Lagos State Commissioner for Economic Planning & Budget, Sam Egube puts it, ....
